Health Centers for Healing and Hope
1. The Problem & Need In many rural and underserved regions of Ethiopia, including Donga Tunto in the Central region, there is an overwhelming lack of reliable, quality healthcare. Most of the available facilities are small, privately run retail clinics—primarily focused on selling limited medications rather than diagnosing or treating serious illnesses. These establishments often lack even the most basic medical equipment, properly trained personnel, or essential drugs. Many are located far away, making it extremely difficult for villagers in remote communities to access care when they need it most.
Diseases like malaria, typhoid, typhus, tuberculosis, and respiratory infections are rampant in the area, claiming countless lives. Due to poverty and the absence of accessible, well-equipped clinics, families often endure tragic losses. During our evangelistic campaign in July 2024 in Hadaro, just 5 km from Donga Tunto, we witnessed several such heart-wrenching incidents—including two siblings who died in a single night simply because their family had no means to reach a functioning clinic in time.
2. Our Mission at Donga Tunto To address this crisis, The Everlasting Gospel Projects (EGP) has acquired land in Donga Tunto with a vision to build a medium-standard clinic. This facility will be designed not only to serve as a treatment center for local populations but also to serve as a hub for compassionate, community-centered healthcare.
We are now seeking donations and partnerships to:
- Construct the clinic building with appropriate facilities
- Equip the clinic with essential diagnostic and treatment instruments
- Stock essential medicines
- Hire trained medical personnel and support staff
- Operate the clinic with a spirit of service, compassion, and dignity for all
We need an initial amount of $100,000.00 to begin the first phase of this critical project, which includes land development, foundational construction, and securing initial equipment and staffing.
3. Evangelistic Connection EGP’s medical ministry is not separate from its gospel mission. We believe healing the body is a vital entry point to healing the soul. Our 2024 gospel outreach in Hadaro confirmed the urgent need to combine physical healing with spiritual restoration. The clinic will also serve as a witnessing center for the community, where the love of Christ will be demonstrated through action.
4. Vision for Medical Missionary Work This project is more than just a clinic—it is the seed of a medical missionary outpost in line with the counsel of Ellen G. White. She wrote:
“The medical missionary work is to be a part of the work of every church in our land. It is to be bound up with the gospel ministry.” (Medical Ministry, p. 259)
“There is to be no division between the medical missionary work and the gospel ministry. Medical missionary work is to be to the cause of God as the right arm of the body.” (Evangelism, p. 516)
The Donga Tunto clinic will operate as both a health center and a place for health education, lifestyle reform, and Bible-based counsel. It will offer basic health screenings, maternity support, health literacy training, and spiritual encouragement. This integration will fulfill the dual mission of Christ—ministering to both body and spirit.
5. How You Can Help We invite individuals, churches, donors, and organizations to partner with us in this life-saving, gospel-centered endeavor. Your support can:
- Fund the construction of examination rooms, delivery units, and waiting areas
- Purchase diagnostic tools like microscopes, ultrasound machines, and lab kits
- Sponsor trained nurses and health workers
- Contribute to the development of a sustainable and replicable model for other rural locations
Together, let us fulfill Christ’s call to “Heal the sick… and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.” (Luke 10:9)
