Our Christian Schools

Hadaro SDA Church School Development and Appeal for Support

Introduction

Hadaro Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church, located in a rural town within the Central Ethiopian Administrative Region, has been steadfast in spreading the gospel and providing Christian education to children in the community. Established 10 years ago through the evangelistic efforts of The Everlasting Gospel Project, Inc. (EGP), the church has flourished despite initial challenges and now has over 250 committed members.

Recognizing the urgent need for Christian education, EGP launched Hadaro SDA Church School in 2022 on an extra piece of land within its compound. The school serves hundreds of children who would otherwise lack access to faith-based education, offering them both academic excellence and spiritual nourishment.

Current Status and Challenges

Despite significant progress, the school faces numerous challenges due to limited resources. Initial classrooms were constructed with wood and mud, funded by EGP. However, the school urgently requires the following improvements:

  • Additional classroom space
  • Administrative and staff offices
  • Proper sanitation facilities (separate toilets for males and females)
  • Reliable water supply
  • Electricity
  • Adequate teaching materials and resources
  • Increased teaching and support staff

Government supervisors have mandated that the school upgrade its infrastructure to meet educational standards. The requirement includes constructing a permanent building using concrete and metal, along with essential utilities. These improvements are crucial to ensuring the school’s continued operation and compliance with government regulations.

Enrollment and Impact

The school has witnessed remarkable growth in student enrollment over the years:

  • 2022: 74 students
  • 2023: 166 students
  • 2024: 210 students
  • 2025: 285 students

Currently, the school offers Nursery, LKG, UKG, Grade 1, and Grade 2. The increasing enrollment reflects the demand for quality Christian education in the region.

Beyond academics, the school serves as a powerful evangelistic tool. During the July 2024 graduation ceremony, EGP President Daniel Shamebo Sabore witnessed students performing songs, reciting Bible verses, and participating in various spiritual activities. Many students and their families have accepted Jesus Christ through the school’s influence, contributing to the church’s growth and strengthening the community’s faith.

Call for Support

The church and community members, primarily low-income farmers, struggle to meet basic needs, making it difficult to fund the necessary upgrades. To ensure the school’s sustainability and expansion, we appeal for support in the following areas:

  1. Infrastructure Development
  • Construction of a permanent school building with concrete and metal structures
  • Additional classrooms to accommodate the growing student population
  • Administrative and staff offices
  • Proper sanitation facilities
  • Installation of a reliable water supply and electricity

  1. Educational Resources
  • Provision of textbooks, learning materials, and teaching aids
  • Supplying desks, chairs, and other classroom furniture
  • Developing a school library and computer lab

  1. Staffing Support
  • Hiring additional qualified teachers and teacher assistants
  • Providing teacher training and professional development programs
  • Establishing sustainable salary support for educators

  1. Student Sponsorships
  • Financial assistance for students from low-income families
  • Scholarship programs to ensure that all children, regardless of financial background, receive a quality education

  1. Spiritual and Community Development
  • Supporting evangelism programs through the school
  • Assisting in the development of extracurricular activities that promote Christian values
